DUBAI: Talking about his captain Misbah-ul-Haq, Islamabad United opener Luke Ronchi admitted that he remained calm, adding he had a good way of playing cricket.

Talking to a post-match press conference after United’s six-wicket win against Lahore Qalandars, Ronchi said, “You just know it flows from him (Misbah), that calmness.”

The 36-year-old New Zealand batsman who scored a brilliant inning of 77 runs yesterday admitted that Misbah was a little worked up during the initial stages where he wanted to get the team going. But now he’s just smiling away, Ronchi told.

“It is a good way to play cricket. If you’re nice and relax, and don’t go very emotional about it then your natural abilities come out and you play to your potential,” he said.

Ronchi praised Shadab Khan for his all-round performances, and said, “It’s been a brilliant tournament so far and the skill level is really high.”

He acknowledged that even the guys on the bench at PSL were talented. “The skill level [of the players] is really good. There are guys you’ve never even heard of, and they come in and bowl at 140kph, or they whack the ball miles,” he stated.

On a question, whether he will be willing to go to Lahore if his side qualified for the play-offs, Ronchi replied with an affirmative yes.

The United’s opener scored back to back half centuries for his side and is in good form.

  1. It was disgusting to see Hussoo written on Hassan Ali’s shirt. This is a reflection on the education level of Pakistani players. This particular bowler had no idea that he was desecrating name of Holy Prophet’s grandson Hassan RA. This is not acceptable. This bowler needs a kick in his behind.

  2. I have serious doubts about Kamran Akmal. He and his brother have a history which was abundantly visible when he took ages to stump Domini. It was too obvious. He must be investigated. The replay is amply clear.
