ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) will organise Karawan-e-Benazir rally in connection with International Women’s Day here on March 8 to protect rights of women in which women from all walks of life will participate.
PPP Islamabad Women Wing President Sherry Rehman will lead the rally that will start from National Press Club and culminate at D-chowk.
Punjab Women Wing General Secretary Nargis Faiz Malik told APP that rallies would be led by PPP women in all four provincial capitals on Thursday for International Women’s Day. She added that every year, her party celebrated this day to empower women and ensured equality for them as PPP was the first party who had taken concrete and targeted steps to empower women at different levels in all sectors.
She said that women in PPP were considered the backbone of the party, adding that they had been instrumental in organising big rallies, demonstrations and public meetings.
