Due to repeated flight delays on Wednesday, Nawaz Sharif’s visit to Sindh was postponed until further notice.
Nawaz, chief of his own faction of Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N), had to arrive in Sindh on June 9 (today) after his visit to Quetta a day earlier but his flight to the provincial capital of Balochistan was delayed.
A former PML-N Sindh president and a central leader of the party informed Pakistan Today that the main schedule of PML-N chief’s visit to the province was expressing condolence with the families of slain journalists Syed Saleem Shehzad and Wali Babar.
“He [Nawaz] was scheduled to go to their homes but because of technical hurdles before his visit to Quetta, Mian Sahib has postponed his visit. It was scheduled that he will come to Sindh after his visit to Quetta, but as his Quetta visit was postponed, his visit to Sindh was postponed as well,” he added.
The new dates for the visit of Nawaz will be notified later.
However, sources told Pakistan Today said that during his visit to Sindh Nawaz may announce the formation of PML-N’s provincial body, which has been non-existent for a long time. Other provinces are also facing the same situation and this delay is causing group division within the party. However, some influential families in Sindh are also expected to announce their joining of the PML-N.
