LAHORE: Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique hinted on Monday that conspiracies were being hatched to imprison former premier Nawaz Sharif.
Addressing a women’s convention of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), he said attempts are being made to imprison Nawaz Sharif yet again as he made the country a nuclear power.
He added that Nawaz was ousted only because he didn’t take dictation. Talking about his claim, he asked how many times they will send Nawaz to jail.
Rafique mentioned that ‘some powers’ have created their own political parties and often force politicians to switch loyalties. “Whatever is happening in Pakistan has not happened for the first time,” he said.
He suggested that all institutions of the country should work within their constitutional limits.
Nawaz worked for welfare whenever he came to power, Rafique claimed, saying that the Sharifs are loyal in the eyes of the people.
He lashed out at the PTI chief Imran Khan for not doing enough for the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa where his party secured power.
