GHOTKI: The by-elections for PS-7 constituency were held in Ghotki on Monday.
A tough competition is expected between Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) candidate Mian Abdul Bari and Pakistan Muslim League – Functional’s (PML-F) Mian Abdul Malik.
According to reports, at least 179,000 people are registered to exercise their right to vote, at around 163 polling stations in the constituency.
A fine of 50,000 rupees has been imposed by the Election Monitoring officer Noor Muhammad for the violation of election rules.
Almost 3,500 police officers including six SPs, 2 ASPs and 11 DSPs have been deployed at polling stations to ensure strict security.
The PS-7 seat was vacated after the death of Sindh Assembly’s member Ahmed Ali Khan.
