The shortage of petrol continued in the city on Wednesday, forcing vehicles to line up at filling stations on a third consecutive day as only five to 10 percent of the filling stations could provide fuel for the vehicles.
Owing to closure of dozens of petrol filling stations, long queues of vehicles were seen at filling stations son Davis Road, Empress Road, Shahrah-e-Fatima Jinnah, Johar Town, Shimla Hill Chowk and Barkat Market, McLeod Road, Ravi Road, Allama Iqbal Town, Ghorey Shah, Mozang, Ichhra, Krishan Nagar and Mughalpura where petrol was available in short supply.
Keeping in view the gap between demand and supply, the petrol pumps were providing only Rs 100 to Rs 200 petrol to motorcyclists and up to Rs 500 to four-wheelers. Expressing utter dismay over the situation, motorists complained about overcharging and short measuring by filling stations.
On being contacted, an owner of a petrol pump at Shimla Hill denied selling petrol on exorbitant rates. Rickshaw and taxi drivers charged unjustified fares owing to petrol shortages caused by irregular supply from oil refineries.
If there is a shortage explain why? Common sense tells me if NATO can get supplies at Rs 42/li; we are willing to pay90/li and still no supplies??? explain pls
