Call for women rights

A roundtable discussion on ‘Devolution of Ministry of Women Development: Process, Opportunities and Challenges’ was held in Islamabad Wednesday.

The event was organised by Pattan Development Organisation, Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) and Center of Excellence in Gender Studies Quaid-i-Azam University.

The participants discussed the way forward to advocate gender equality agenda in the post-18th Amendment scenario. Farzana Raja, BISP Chairperson, said the PPP was fully committed to the gender equality and women’s rights issues. She criticised religious parties for their lack of support to women rights.

Dr Farzana Bari said effective implementation of the amendment would go a long way to strengthen democracy and to achieve citizens’ rights, adding that it established the supremacy of Parliament.
