International conference on “Women, media and transnational perspective” concludes

LAHORE: The two-day international conference on “Women, Media and Transnational Perspectives” hosted by the Punjab University Institute of Communication Studies concluded on Friday.

Norwegian Ambassador Tore Nedrebo, the chief guest while addressing the conference said that he was glad to be a part of the conference as such healthy dialogues were always fruitful for the society’s development, and Norwegian scholars would always cooperate in arranging such conferences.

Institute of Communication Studies In charge Director Dr Noshina Saleem thanked the participants and expressed the commitment that the organisation would continue to hold such positive dialogues in the future. Presenting the closing day recommendations of the conference, the conveners Dr Bushra Hameedur Rahman and Dr Abida Eijaz said that women should be allowed to work on key positions so that they can play their role equally in the society.

The conference was organised to emphasise on the harassment problem that exists in the society and the main target of the conference was to spread awareness through a healthy dialogue.

Prof Dr Hannan, Tanveer Shahzad, Dr Rashid Khan, Fahad Mahmood, Seemab Bukhari, Dr Anjum Zia, Mian Saifur Rahman, Dr Zafar Iqbal, Dr Sajjad Paracha, Nausheen Naqvi, Farzana Ali, Uzma Aleem, Hasina Shirzad, Shumaila Jafri, Fatima Saif and others expressed their views on various topics during the conference along with professors of communication studies from North America, Norway, Afghanistan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nepal and Bangladesh.

Senior journalists from all over the country also participated in the conference.
