LAHORE: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) central Punjab President Qamar Zaman Kaira on Thursday lashed out at the Sharif brothers and said former prime minister Nawaz Sharif was now “not even able to contest the union council elections.”
Addressing a workers’ convention in Mauza Taro Gull area of Lahore, he said the Nawaz’s disqualification by the Supreme Court was, in fact, the “wrath of Allah”.
“Nawaz used to consider himself the greatest leader but now he is facing the wrath of Allah. If according to him ‘no corruption was proven’, what are the National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) references against him about?”
“If the verdict in the Hudaibya Papers case is in Shehbaz Sharif’s favour, then the courts are right, but if they disqualify Nawaz for being corrupt, then the courts should be attacked,” he said while adding that the “Sharif brothers want the courts and verdicts to be as they want.”
“Maryam Nawaz is dreaming to become the prime minister while Nawaz says that his sons are not Pakistani nationals and so, are above Pakistani laws. These dual standards of Nawaz are not acceptable,” he said and added that the Sharif brothers were “crying over Ahad Cheema’s arrest.”
He said the rulers tried to break the PPP every time but they “failed terribly.” He also claimed that the PPP would win the next general elections with a “thumping majority.”
