PTA asked to submit report on measures to block child pornography

ISLAMABAD: A special committee of the National Assembly held a meeting to discuss methods of preventing pornographic content, including child pornography and abuse on the internet.

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) was asked to explain the existence of ‘dark web’ and to verify if videos of children subjected to abuse in Pakistan were available. The committee was also required to explain what measures PTA had taken to block such content. The committee was chaired by Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Marriyyum Aurangzeb.

Human Rights Commision, Law Ministry and police representative explained that Pakistan’s penal codes have been amended with the addition of 292-A, 292-B and 292-C, which includes child pornography.
The execution of the laws is currently in process.
