GWADAR: The chairman of the Senate’s Standing Sub-Committee on Planning and Development, Shahzeb Durrani, on Monday requested for the purification of plants to solve the drinking water shortage in Gwadar and its neighbouring areas, according to a local English daily.
Senator Muhammad Mohsin Laghari, Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department’s Chief Engineer Nawaz Sheikh and other officials, Port Authority Director-General Dr Sajjad Baloch and Gwadar’s Deputy Commissioner Naeem Bazai were part of the meeting.
Bazai informed the attendees about the on-going water crisis in the area and measures that can be taken in order to resolve the issue. Durrani along with some officers visited the newly-constructed Swad dam, Ankra Kour dam and Karwat desalination plant.
