Sindh set to present annual budget on June 10

Sindh is set to present Rs 387 billion deficit-free budget on June 10 as no new tax will be imposed except the general sales tax.
According to a private television channel, agriculture tax will not be imposed. Instead the government will take steps to ensure collection of already enforced taxes in this sector.
At least Rs 151 billion will be allocated for development programmes in Karachi, which include 1,716 ongoing and 250 new uplift schemes. A proposal is under consideration to allocate Rs 10 billion for the development of Hayderabad, Larkana and Khairpur. At least 69 percent increase is likely in health and education sectors. Funds have also been allocated to construct two new bridges on Sindh River. Moreover, Rs 10 billion are allocated for relief and rehabilitation in case of natural calamities and Rs 6 billion are likely to be allocated for Zulfikarabad Development Authority.
Every parliamentarian will be given Rs 40 million. At least Rs 2 billion have been earmarked for Sindh Assembly and new Sindh Secretariat. A proposal is under consideration to allocate Rs 100 million for discretionary funds of the Sindh chief minister, while another proposal is to increase salaries of provincial government employees by 15 percent.
