RAWALPINDI: “Record development projects, in accordance with the vision of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Nawaz Sharif, were completed in Rawalpindi Cantonment areas during the last five years,” said National Assembly (NA) member and Rawalpindi Parks and Horticulture Authority Chairman Malik Ibrar Ahmed.
Talking to APP he said that PML-N would win the next general elections with an overwhelming majority as the incumbent government fulfilled their promises made in the 2013 elections.
He said that record development projects including education, health, water supply and other basic facilities were completed during the tenure of the incumbent government and that all wards of the cantonment were focused to facilitate the residents.
Replying to a question, he said that the up-gradation of Cantonment General Hospital (CMH) and water supply projects would also be completed soon.
“A special grant of Rs 100 million was given to cantonment board members for development work including, construction of roads, Installation of street lights, and filtration plants in 10 wards of Cantt,” he informed.
Moreover, five million rupees were allocated for the renovation of streets in each ward of Cantt.
He said that Cantt members were directed to complete all projects on time whilst ensuring high quality. In a bid to overcome the prevailing gas shortage, Sui Northern Gas Pipeline (SNGPL), Rawalpindi had approved a project of Rs 100 million to lay a 10-inch pipeline in cantonment areas. The pipeline is being laid from Sowan to Lalkurti.
Malik also said that development work in cantonment areas was a top priority, adding that residents would get a regular supply of gas on the completion of the project.
He concluded by saying that all available resources are being utilized for undertaking development projects for the provision of facilities to residents.
