KARACHI: Karachi Commissioner Ejaz Ahmad Khan, during a hearing at the Sindh High Court pertaining to the case on the crackdown against production and distribution of Gutka and Manipuri, said on Thursday that the persons involved in the production of Gutka were influential people.
“As soon as a case is registered against them, these persons obtain temporary the bail,” he said.
Commissioner Karachi disclosed that authorities had sealed two factories that were producing Gutka and Manipuri.
“These items are now being produced secretly inside houses,” he said.
“Last year, we registered 500 cases against production and distribution of Gutka,” said the attorney representing Sindh government.
The high court ordered authorities to continue the crackdown against the production and distribution of the harmful items.
