Protesting doctors end hunger strike

KARACHI: A meeting of doctors with Karachi Commissioner Ejaz Ahmed Khan and was held at Commissioner House Karachi to seek compliance of the orders of the Supreme Court (SC) by the Sindh government regarding the promotions of doctors.

Karachi commissioner assured the doctors that he would talk to Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah to resolve the issue.

After the meeting on the request of the Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) General Secretary Dr SM Qaisar Sajjad, the doctors of Sindh ended their hunger strike.

It was done so due to the deteriorating health conditions of the senior doctors on hunger strike. A PMA statement said that two doctors on strike had already been admitted to a hospital and Dr Usman Mako’s medical condition was also not satisfactory.
