MUSCAT: The third in the series, Beaconhouse International Student Convention (BISC) 2018 commenced on Tuesday amidst great fanfare at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Muscat, Oman.

The occasion was graced with the presence of Al-Suwaiq Football Club Board of Directors Chairman HH Sayyid Faris bin Fahar Al Said and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Oman Ali Javed. Also in attendance were dignitaries from the Malaysian and the Philippines embassies and the senior management of Beaconhouse.

Over 200 Beaconhouse students from five countries are taking part in these events in Muscat. Other than the 200 students present in Muscat, thousands of Beaconhouse students worldwide have participated in activities in their home countries (Malaysia, Oman, Pakistan, Philippines, and Thailand) in order to qualify for BISC.

The event is being endorsed and supported by the Oman Ministry of Education.

The grand convention began with the regal torch-bearing ceremony as it was ignited by students representing 28 nations present at the occasion. All contingents from the five countries exhibited intense passion and boundless enthusiasm to be part of such a multi-cultural event as evidenced by the corridors which were roaring with chants and excitement.

The day comprised of competitions which included basketball, futsal, table tennis and swimming. Four exhibitions (BISC Biennale, BISC Exploratorium, BISCLICK, BISC Films) were also inaugurated by the Beaconhouse Chief Executive Kasim Kasuri and UMISAA Director (UNESCO Madanjeet Singh Institute for South Asian Arts) Professor Salima Hashmi.
