DERA GHAZI KHAN: Punjab Rangers on Tuesday killed two alleged militants in an exchange of fire in Dera Ghazi Khan (DGK) district of the Punjab province, while two of their accomplices managed to escape.
According to sources, the incident occurred at Sakhi Sarwar Road where four terrorists on two motorcycles were travelling towards Fort Munro when they were intercepted by a patrolling Rangers van.
The personnel asked the alleged militants to stop but the riders opened fire on personnel of the security forces. In retaliatory fire, two militants were killed on the spot while two others managed to escape from the scene of the incident.
The bodies were later shifted to a nearby hospital while a probe was initiated to ascertain the identities of the deceased.
The security personnel also recovered SMG rifle and a 30-bore pistol from their custody. Raids were being conducted by the security forces to nab the remaining two accomplices who escaped the area.
On February 17, security forces killed three terrorists during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Dera Ghazi Khan, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.
According to the statement, Punjab Rangers, along with Elite Police and intelligence agencies, conducted the IBO under Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad. As a result, three terrorists were killed in the exchange of fire and the forces also recovered ammunition from their possession, according to the ISPR. Two Rangers personnel were injured in the operation, the statement read.
