The Supreme Court on Tuesday allowed the Capital Development Authority’s (CDA) former chairman Kamran Lashari to withdraw his review petition against the court’s June 4, 2010 verdict against him for allowing illegal constructions in F-9 Park. A three-member Supreme Court bench comprising Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Tariq Parvez and Justice Amir Hani Muslim was hearing a review petition against the court’s decision against illegal constructions in F-9 Park. Appearing on notice, Kamran Lashari told the court that he wanted to withdraw his review petition against the court verdict. The court suggested him to let the committee complete its inquiry against him and then he might challenge the committee’s findings. The Supreme Court had directed action against Kamran Lashari and an inquiry committee was formed in this regard. On permission of illegal construction of M/S Siza Foods’ outlet in F-9 Park by CDA’s former chairman, the chief justice noted that official business must not be conducted through plain chits. The court in its June 4, 2010 judgment had directed CDA to demolish illegal constructions in F-9 Park.
