Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh asked his ministers on Tuesday to declare their assets and liabilities.

According to Indian media reports, in a letter, Singh reiterated that ministers have to follow a code of conduct. Singh’s instructions to his ministers have come after allegations against Textile Minister Dayanidhi Maran that he was involved in the 2G spectrum scam.

Maran, who was the IT and communication minister from 2004 to 2007, is accused of forcing Sterling Group Chairman C Sivasankaran to sell his stake in Aircel to Malaysian billionaire T Anand Krishnan’s company Maxis Communications Berhad.

Similarly Anand Krishnan is reportedly linked to the Maran family’s Sun TV network.

Manmonhan Singh’s move has come at the time when Yoga Guru, Baba Ramdev and other spiritual leaders were campaigning movements to free the country from corruption and Congress government has been facing the pressure in this regard.
