KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said on Sunday that terrorism is an international issue still rife even in the US but we have successfully eliminated it through our political will and with the support of people of Pakistan, particularly of Karachi.

Delivering his address at Naya Nazimabad during the launching ceremony of Karachi Kings, the CM said that terrorism is not only a problem of Pakistan, Sindh, or Asia but it an international issue which adversely affected the entire World.

The chief minister appreciated the services and sacrifices of law enforcement agencies which fought against terrorists, mafias and gangsters in this city bravely.

“Now, Karachi is one of the peaceful cities of the world and we are working day and night for its reconstruction,” he said.

He lamented that the media was accusing the government of digging all the roads in the city which has caused serious problems for people. “Yes, I have got the roads dug because we are reconstructing them for the people of Karachi. We are not only constructing roads but laying new water supply and drainage lines too,” he said.

He added, “It is not a simple task to replace more than 50 to 60 years old drainage system in a big city and thankfully, we are achieving our targets,” he said.

The chief minister urged the media to support him in the reconstruction of the city. “This city is one of the few best cities of the world in terms of its diversified population, seaports, an industrial hub, fish industry and to some extent agriculture particularly the vegetables and fruits,” he said.

The CM said that the world believes in the efforts of the government it has made for the restoration of peace.

He said that the arrangements for Pakistan Super League (PSL) final are being made according to the international standards. “I am working to bring back international cricket to Karachi and also working to promote hockey, boxing, and other games,” he concluded.
