Drone strike kills eight suspected militants, destroys Taliban drug factory in W Afghanistan

An unmanned plane has targeted a drug lab of Taliban in the western Farah province, killing eight militants and destroying a drug lab of the outfit, the official media outlet Bakhtar News Agency (BNA) reported Sunday.
“Eight Taliban militants were killed and their drug factory was destroyed after the Coalition Forces Drone raided Ashkam village in Bakwah District of the western Farah province very recently,” BNA said in the report.
Without providing more details, the agency said that the government is determined to get the poppy growing country rid of the illicit drug menace.
Afghan forces’ operations kill 36 militants in Kandahar
Up to three dozen armed militants have been killed and dozens others injured as government forces stormed Taliban hideouts in Miwand district of Afghanistan’s southern Kandahar province over the past 24 hours, provincial police chief Abdul Razeq said Sunday.
The government forces, according to Kandahar’s police chief, launched operations against Taliban militants in several villages of Miwand district on Saturday and so far 36 insurgents have been killed and scores others injured.
Taliban militants have failed to take 16 bodies left behind on the battleground, Razeq said.
In the operations backed by air power, no security personnel has been hurt, he added. Taliban militants haven’t commented yet.
