Gwadar port to open new vistas of progress: Khawaja Asif

SIALKOT: Foreign Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif on Sunday said that the government was utilising all available resources to improve means of communications in urban and rural areas of the country.

Addressing the laptop distribution ceremony at Government College for Women University, he said the basic concept for improving means of communications was to bring far-off and neglected areas at par with the developed parts of the country.

The foreign minister said that the mega project of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) would play an instrumental role in bringing revolutionary change and usher in economic stability and prosperity, not only in the country but also in the whole region.

He was also confident that Gwadar port would emerge as the busiest port and play a dominating role in ensuring drastic economic stability and overall development of the country as well as in the region.

Gwadar port and China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects would open new vistas of prosperity and development and enlarge the scope of employment opportunities for the people of the country, he added.

“Elimination of poverty is government’s priority,” the foreign minister stressed.  The linking of remote areas with developed areas would eventually bring about revolutionary changes in lifestyle and usher in a new era of development and prosperity, he added.

He further said that under various CPEC programmes, 1,800km long roads had been constructed in Balochistan.

The foreign minister said, “Pakistan is making hectic efforts to maintain peace in the region but our neighbouring country has been creating obstacles in the peace process and is indulged in patronising terrorists.”

He said India is continuously violating on LOC and Working Boundary and killing the innocent civilians. Pakistan has rendered great scarifies in the war against terrorism and efforts were still underway to purge the menace, he added.

The minister made it clear that any attempt to impose war or misadventure by India would be crushed with an iron hand, adding that the world should acknowledge and recognise the sacrifices of Pakistan rendered in the war against terrorism.
