ISLAMABAD: National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has sought details of baggage thefts incidents occurred at airports in 2017.
During the question hour on Friday, the NA was told that incidents of luggage theft were occurring at airports of the country; however, measures were being taken to control such kind of incidents.
The parliamentary secretary for railway told the house that issues of luggage theft of passengers from cargo section were being reported frequently.
The NA was also informed that Rs 86. 5 million has been spent on renovation and construction of railway station in Punjab, Rs 57.2 million in Sindh, Rs 0.37 million in KP and Balochistan Rs 0.40 million. It was further told that work was facing sluggishness due to worst law conditions in Balochistan.
It was told that most of the railway stations are situated in Punjab due to which huge amount was being spent there.
Ministry of Information and Broadcasting told the house in written that thirty broadcast stations are working across the country.
The NA was further told that 10,000 MW of electricity was added to the system during the last four years and the industry was getting power under zero standing.
The government was also working on hydel powers project and once these projects were added to the system then cheaper electricity would be available.
It was also told that two units of 2400 MW are being installed, which would help supply cheap electricity to consumers.
Ministry of Climate Change informed the house in written that three mobile stations and seven other systems under EMS have been established with the cooperation of the Japan government to check the quality of air.
It was told that under the project stations have been established in Quetta, Peshawar and Islamabad. Stations have also been set up in Karachi and Lahore to keep a check on quality through ariel supervision.
Talking about the PIA aircraft that was sold to a German museum, the speaker said that its one engine has a cost of one million dollars but the people involved in the theft sold it at a much cheaper price.
This aircraft was purchased from public money and being a public body parliament has to decide what kind of action be taken against officials allegedly involved in aircraft theft.
NO ENTRY FOR TWO SECY: Separately, the speaker has banned the entry of two parliamentary secretaries Rubina Khalid and Rubina Khurshid in the house on their absence and not responding to questions, respectively.
During the session, he snubbed Rubina Khalid on not giving the replies to questions raised by parliamentarians.
The speaker also banned the entry of Rubina Khurshid, parliamentary secretary for climate change, and directed the authorities not to allow both the parliamentary secretaries to enter the house.
