LAHORE: Responding to Ayesha Gulalai’s allegations against Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) on Friday, Minister of State for Information, Broadcasting, National History and Literary Heritage Marriyum Aurangzeb said that it was a despicable indiscretion on her part to gain cheap political popularity and importance.
Marriyum said that Gulalai’s statement, based on concocted lies, was not only deplorable but also condemnable.
The minister said that although Gulalai had said adieu to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), she was still faithfully following the lesson about churning out lies taught to her by PTI Chairman Imran Khan. Instead of hurling false allegations she should tell the name of the PML-N leader who offered her the Senate ticket, she added.
Marriyum said that in the presence of sincere, dedicated and faithful workers there was neither any need for the PML-N to award tickets to any outsider nor was there any room to do so.
The minister asked that on whose agenda she was working on to create misunderstandings between the state institutions? She said that the PML-N would initiate legal action against her for fabricating baseless and false allegations.
A PML-N spokesperson also called the allegations ‘absurd, baseless, false and reprehensible’ and said that the party would take legal action against Ayesha Gulalai.
Senator Mushaidullah Khan said that her Gulalai’s only claim to fame was the obscene text messages that she alleged Imran had sent her.
He further said that there were many other candidates in the party for the Senate ticket and it did not need to lure anyone to join it.
“Gulalai should elevate herself to a point where the party itself decides to give her the ticket,” she said.
Earlier, PTI Spokesperson Fawad Chaudhry said that PML-N had taken advantage of Gulalai to defame political opponents after the former premier’s disqualification by the Supreme Court (SC) in Panama Papers case. He termed it as PML-N’s patent move.
Gulalai on Friday said that she was instigated by PML-N for speaking against the institutions and as a reward the party had offered her a Senate ticket.
Gulalai further said that she would reveal the name of the instigator soon.
