GC University professor shot dead in Lahore

LAHORE: Government College (GC) University professor Dr Tanzeem Akbar Cheema was shot dead on Wednesday morning allegedly after a struggle during an armed robbery.

According to police, armed robbers intercepted Professor Cheema near Kalma Chowk to rob him of his valuables and cash. The suspects fired four bullets at the professor, three of which hit him in the leg while one pierced his chest.

While reports suggest that the professor was shot dead while resisting an armed robbery, evidence now indicates that the incident was motivated by personal enmity, police said

He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead. Dr Cheema was a professor at the GC University’s Botany Department.

The police said the robbers managed to escape from the crime scene and efforts are being made to arrest them.

CM ORDERS IMMEDIATE ARREST OF DR TANZEEM’s MURDERER:

Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif taking notice of Dr Tanzeem Akbar Cheema’s murder has sought a report from the CCPO.

The chief minister on Wednesday ordered to immediately arrest the criminals involved in the incident. Expressing a deep sense of sorrow over the murder, he also extended his heartfelt sympathies and condolences to the bereaved family.
