LDFA held in Larkana, minister says improved technology can boost country’s economy

LARKANA: Livestock, Dairy, Fisheries and Poultry and Agriculture (LDFA) seminar was held on Tuesday here in Larakana to introduce modern agriculture technology for the purpose of boosting Sindh’s economy.

Sindh Agricultural Minister Nisar Ahmed Khuhro said that agriculture, livestock and fisheries sectors and industrial infrastructure for fruits and vegetables will strengthen the economy of the province as well as of the entire country.

Larkana Commissioner Abbas Baluch, Agriculture Secretary Sajid Jamal Abro, Sindh Board of Investment and Sindh Enterprise Development Fund Chairperson Naheed Memon, Sindh Enterprise Development Fund (SEDF) Chief Executive Officer Mehboob-ul-Haq, Director Administration, Abrar Ahmed Shaikh and other officials also attended the LDFA 2018 exhibition.

They also added that introduction of technology, efficient irrigation systems, hybrid seeds, quality pesticides and modern techniques can help attain its true potential.

Local and foreign investors have shown a keen interest in this sector. The Sindh government has taken various initiatives in terms of subsidized financing, technological support, research and development and capacity building of farmers.

Sajid Jamal Abro further added that through the LDFA 2018, we envisaged that Sindh’s agriculture-based economy can be further boosted. Keeping in view the global food security concerns, we are committed to promoting dairy sector not only for local food security but also to improve value addition and value chain, he said.

In the concluding session of LDFA 2018, awards and shields were given to winning contestants in different categories of Horse & Cattle Show held at Larkana.

They also appreciated the efforts of Badar Expo Solutions and other organizers and for managing the mega event.
