IMCG holds inter-collegiate competitions

ISLAMABAD: Three-day inter-collegiate competitions started at Islamabad Model College for Girls (IMCG) in F-7/4 on Monday.

The event was held under the auspices of College Students Council from February 12 to 14 at college’s main hall. The events including Qirat and Naat recitations, English and Urdu debates, fine arts, computer graphics, dry and fresh flower arrangement, as well as embroidery and cooking competitions, said a press release.

The faculty, along with the students, participated enthusiastically in the competitions and appreciated the performance of the students of other colleges.

Allama Iqbal Open University, Islamabad Ahadiths and Seerah Dean Dr Ali Asghar Chishti was the chief guest on the occasion.

In Qirat competition, prizes awarded to Habiba Rehman, Mehwish Shaheen, Naghma Rukhsar, and Hafza Mudassir as first, second, third and consolation prize winners respectively. In Naat competition, prizes were awarded to Rafia, Kainat Tariq, Marwa Sajjad and Mahnoor Malik as first, second, third, and consolation prizes respectively.

In the fresh flower arrangement, first prize was awarded to Iqra Khalil whereas Aleena and Shumaila Jabeen were awarded second and third prizes respectively. In dry flower arrangement category, the prize winners included Syeda Hadia, Quratul Ain and Iqra Majeed. A consolation prize was given to Syed Laiba Hussain.

In embroidery competition, first three positions were given to Maham Chaudhry, Ghazala Azhar and Ilsa Batool respectively whereas the consolation prize was given to Amreena Fatima. In the cooking competition, first three positions were given to Marium Shahid, Sidra Haroon and Afshan Afridi respectively whereas consolation prize was given to Bushra Banaras.

Among the judges of competitions were Shazia Hameed, Samina Tariq and Adeela Shaheen.

The college trophy was given to the participants from Post Graduate College Kashmir Road, Rawalpindi on overall performance.

In his address to audiences, the chief guest appreciated the students’ enthusiasm and eagerness in the competitions.
