Punjab govt forms child protection committee to be headed by Rana Sanaullah

LAHORE: Punjab Minister Khalil Tahir Sandhu, during a meeting regarding child protection day at the Human Rights department camp office, stated that the Punjab government has formed a committee for the protection of children which will be headed by provincial Law Minister Rana Sanaullah.

The committee will comprise 20 members including Punjab Inspector General Police.

During the meeting, the minister further informed that February 7, will be observed as the child protection day throughout the province on the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The minister said that it is need of time that the younger students of the primary classes should be educated about their bodies like the good touch and bad touch and that the Punjab Government has developed a comprehensive booklet with the title of “Safe Child, Strong Pakistan” to impart the important knowledge to children.

The provincial minister further added that the government will launch a system in Punjab based on the Amber alert pattern to prevent the abduction of children and that said that the victims of child abuse, as well as their families, should be encouraged to report the cases to police, civil society or the civil administration.

Khalil Tahir Sandhu also directed secretary Asim Iqbal to perform a prominent role through the platform of Human Rights department and expand the dissemination of information to private educational institutions, religious institutes and places where children were either employed or educated.
