LAHORE: A delegation of Turkey’s Zorlu Enerji Group called on Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday and discussed with him different matters pertaining to the hundred megawatt project at the Quaid-e-Azam Solar Power Plant Bahawalpur.
The Turkish investor group on the occasion agreed to set up a hundred megawatt solar power plant in Punjab with 5.3 percent tariff.
The chief minister termed the establishment of the solar power plant by the renowned business group of Turkey with a tariff of 5.3 percent as an important development and said that we are thankful to the people and the government of Turkey.
He said that no solar project has ever been established with such a minimum tariff in Pakistan till today and added that the Punjab government will provide the Turkish investors with all the needed facilities and security.
Shehbaz said that the provision of cheap electricity to the people will be possible through Quaid-e-Azam Solar Power Plant Project and that the Zorlu Enerji Group is a famous Turkish company which has professional competence in the energy sector.
He said that the bilateral friendly relations between Pakistan and Turkey span over a long period of time and Pakistan’s close contacts with Turkey are now transforming into strong economic collaboration.
The Turkish delegation was headed by the company’s Chief Executive Officer Ibrahim Sinan while Director International Projects Ahmet Yagmur Ozdemir and Country Manager Syed Mumtaz Hassan were also a part of the delegation.
ACS (energy), secretary energy, Solar Power Private Ltd Chairman Chaudhry Arif Saeed and other concerned officials were also present at the occasion.
