ABBOTTABAD: The body of 12-year old domestic help Misbah was exhumed on Thursday for medical examination.

A judicial magistrate, heavy contingent of police and a couple of medical experts were present as the grave of the young girl was dug up. The investigation aims to find out whether the cause of death was natural or not.

Misbah was an employee of the Shoaib Ghani, brother of the provincial minister Mushtaq Ghani, and she died on January 25 under mysterious circumstances.

On Thursday, the Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday took a suo motu notice of the 11-year-old domestic worker’s death.

According to a notification, Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar took notice after media reports and directed for the KP inspector general to submit a detailed report within three days. The fact-finding committee constituted by DIG Hazara to investigate the death had recommended the exhumation and post-mortem of the deceased child on Wednesday.

According to a police spokesperson, Misbah’s health deteriorated after eating fruits and though she was taken to a hospital, however, she did not survive. He said that Misbah’s siblings; a brother and a sister had also died of the same ailment.

“The investigation can be taken forward after the medical report emerges,” said the police spokesman and added that Misbah’s family had made no request for legal action.

“I am as sorrowful about Misbah’s death as her family. I have no objection to a probe into her death,” said Mushtaq Ghani.

“The ones known for mud-slinging have been doing propaganda,” said Ghani.

“Every single person is busy scoring points,” he concluded.
