The government decided on Tuesday to extend the agreement of the rail link with India for three more years, according to a Foreign Office statement.

The statement said: “Pakistan has agreed to extend the agreement of the rail link, running between Munabao in India and Khokhrapar in Pakistan, for another three years.”

The agreement would come into effect from February 1, 2018, and expire on January 31, 2021. The agreement was first signed between the governments of both the countries in 2006.

The rail link between the South Asian neighbours ensures people-to-people contact which Pakistan believes would improve relations between the two countries in the future.
