LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday said that Pakistan is more prosperous, peaceful and illuminating during the tenure of the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) than ever before.

The pace at which energy projects have been completed is unprecedented in the 70 years history of the country, he said while adding that the PML-N government has completed energy projects in a very short period of time and now power load-shedding has become a thing of the past. It is heartening, he said, that energy projects have been completed in a very transparent manner and that too at minimal costs.

Previous governments made a cruel joke with the nation in regard to energy projects and plunged it into darkness by showing negligence, he said. On the other hand, we have laid the strong foundation of an illuminating Pakistan, said CM Shehbaz.

When we came into power, the energy crisis was at its peak and the nation was in the state of deprivation. We understood the seriousness of the matter and burnt the midnight oil to effectively deal with the challenge. We started working on different projects related to energy production and resultantly, the projects were completed in a record period of time while eliminating load-shedding, he said.

We are thankful to Allah that our hard work, passion and commitments bear fruit, and load-shedding has ended now. He said that energy projects are of prime importance for the economic development of the country and as a result of the eliminated load-shedding, employment opportunities have been increased.

The chief minister said that public welfare and national development are the main agendas of the PML-N government because a country progresses only when the common people prosper. He said that Punjab is the only province which has taken the lead in energy production with its own resources. Due to the efforts of the PML-N government and completion of the energy projects, there will soon be an abundant amount of electricity in the country, he said.

The surplus electricity could also be exported and the journey of a prosperous and developed Pakistan will continue, concluded the chief minister.
