PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairperson Imran Khan’s use of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP)’s helicopters has cost the provincial government millions, reported a local media outlet on Monday.
The documents obtained by the local media outlet reveal that the PTI chairman used the provincial government’s helicopters for around 74 hours to travel approximately 18,000 kilometres, completely free of charge.
A total amount of Rs2.1 million was recorded as an expense in the provincial government’s books at approximately Rs28,865 per hour for Khan’s 40 trips for a total of 73 hours and 55 minutes, on the two helicopters—an Mi-171 and an Ecureuil.
He used these two helicopters for a total of 73 hours and 55 minutes, resulting in an expense of Rs2,107,181 recorded by the provincial government.
He used the government helicopters to fly to and from Bani Gala, Islamabad, Mardan, Peshawar, Abbottabad, Haripur, Swat and Nathiagali, Kohat, Batagram, and Chakdara, among other places.
‘INDUSTRIALISATION IMPERATIVE FOR PROGRESS, PROSPERITY’:
Meanwhile, Imran Khan Tuesday said special focus should be on industrialisation for national progress and prosperity.
Addressing local traders and industrialists in Faisalabad, he said Pakistan could become an Asian tiger if national institutions were improved.
He said the industrial sector had played a pivotal role in strengthening the national economy. The industry should be facilitated so that it could create maximum job opportunities, he added.
He also addressed a youth convention in the city and urged the youth to work hard and concentrate on their study so that they could play their active role in national progress and prosperity.
