Former prime minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani said Pakistan People’s Party had always strengthened democracy and the elements trying to harm democracy were not well-wishers of the country.
He expressed these views at the residence of PPP leader Mahar Imran Haider Sanpal here on Sunday. Gilani said there should be no attempts to derail democracy or the election process. Responding to a question, Gilani said Imran Khan was expert in the blame game, however, politics was another name of patience.
About the Charter of Democracy, Gilani said it was a political document which could not be thrown into the dustbin. Sanctity of votes must be honoured in all circumstances, he added. He said PPP had never indulged in the politics of revenge. He claimed that the PPP would emerge as a big political identity in South Punjab in the upcoming general election.
