KARACHI: The Supreme Court (SC) on Saturday directed the Interior Ministry and Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to verify the degrees of all pilots.

The authorities have been directed to verify the degrees by February 1.

Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar, during the hearing of the Naqeebullah killing case, summoned the CAA director general over the issue of fake degrees of pilots.

He said that the SC will expect a reply from the relevant airlines and the CAA during a week.

On Friday, CJP Nisar had asked the DG CAA Karachi to submit a record of the movement of private planes/jets on all airports during the last 15 days.

He had also asked the official to submit a report pertaining to appointments of pilots made on the basis of fake degrees or certificates.
