FAISALABAD: Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry Wednesday said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) would return to power in the next general elections with Nawaz Sharif or his nominee as the next prime minister.

Addressing a news conference here at Circuit House, he said that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif had fought terrorism successfully and also put the country on road to progress and prosperity. Despite those positive achievements, he said that some elements were hatching conspiracies to punish him for launching mega projects such as China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), motorways, etc.

Talal said that the credit for restoring judiciary also went to Nawaz Sharif. “Dispensation of justice would be another agenda of the PML-N manifesto during the next general election,” he said.

The popularity of Nawaz Sharif was still unchallenged despite his disqualification, he said.

The minister also said that the PML-N would introduce reforms in the judicial system in addition to restoring the sanctity of the vote. “There is a need for removing hurdles in the way of justice,” he said, adding, “In our judicial system, a grandfather files a case and his grandson appears in the court.”

Talal also said, “We respect the judiciary and will continue to do so despite reservations in some cases.” He condemned the criticism of opposition in the Zainab murder case and said Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif had made untiring efforts to nab her murderer.

The minister also said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Sindh governments should follow the Punjab chief minister’s footprints and apprehend the murderers of Asma and Naqeeb.

The minister said that Nawaz Sharif had been entangled in various cases by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), and the nation has been waiting for their judicious decision. “If justice is not done, it would be bad for the system,” he added.

Commenting on the resignations of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) legislators, he said that the resignations were lying with someone else. “The PTI had also tendered fake resignations earlier,” he added.

Talal further said that the Senate and general elections would be held on time and the PML-N would clean sweep.

Regarding the public meeting of Nawaz Sharif in Jaranwala, the state minister said that it would be a record in the political history of Pakistan. People would attend the meeting in large numbers to repose their confidence in the leadership of Nawaz Sharif, he added.

He also said that district and tehsil level organisations of the PML-N were united and would participate in the meeting as one body. PML-N District President Mian Qasim Farooq was also present on the occasion.
