MIRPURKHAS: A 14-year-old boy on Wednesday was allegedly gang-raped in Deh 325 near Samaro town of Umerkot district, the Station House Officer (SHO) Umerkot said.
SHO Aziz Seenhrio told a private media outlet that the two men allegedly took the teenage boy to a periphery and raped him.
The police said that a First Information Report (FIR) has been filed under Sections 377 (unnatural offences), 342 (punishment for wrongful confinement) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) on the complaint of the boy’s father.
The police said that one of the suspects has been arrested and the search for the other is being done. The police further said that they are waiting for the report of the boy’s medical examination, which was done earlier at Taluka Hospital.
Society for the Protection of the Rights of the Child (SPARC) Regional Representative Kashif Bajeer expressed his deep grief over the incident and said the Mirpurkhas region is becoming notorious for child abuse cases. He asked for the arrest of the culprits and implementation and formulation of laws to address the issue.
Since the onset of 2018, there has been a sharp upsurge in the reporting of sexual abuse cases across Pakistan.
