Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Saturday continued mocking the Sharif family by alleging that the ‘Sharif mafia’ is solely responsible for destroying the moral values of the youth in Pakistan which in turn has also ruined the moral fabric of the society.

Imran made these allegations while objecting to the picture of deposed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s printed on government-issued health cards.

In a tweet shared Saturday, Khan said, “Shameful! In no democracy in the world wld [would] this be acceptable: A disqualified money launderer’s face on a govt health card! Apart from using taxpayer money to project criminals, Sharif mafia destroying moral values of our youth: As if nothing wrong with corruption/money laundering,” Imran tweeted.

Maryam Nawaz was quick to reply to Khan’s allegations and said that the PTI chief had found his destiny in constant complaining and being afraid of competition.

“Earlier, Nawaz Sharif made him afraid when he was the prime minister, but it seems that now the PTI chief is also afraid of his picture,” Maryam said.

The backlash from PTI comes after Nawaz criticised his political opponents, especially PTI, during a rally in Haripur on Saturday. In his speech, Nawaz had said that the people had rejected the politics of allegations which had become a norm among his political opponents.

“Did you see their show in Lahore a few days ago? People have clearly rejected their politics,” Nawaz said while referring to the multi-party opposition protest on Lahore’s Mall Road. He criticised the PTI’s performance in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and said that the party had achieved nothing during their rule, adding that the motorway linking KP to Punjab was constructed by PML-N to accommodate the people of both the provinces.

Referring to Imran’s allegations against the parliament, Nawaz said that the man abused and accused everyone when he directed his negative remarks at the parliament. “I salute the judges who decided to term him ‘sadiq’ and ‘ameen’, even though the PTI chief had admitted to owning an offshore company. But the judges let him off the hook,” he added.
