DHQ, THQ hospitals already received medicines, H1N1 vaccine

  • Secretary Jan says Flu Filtration Clinics also established

LAHORE: Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department (PSHD) Secretary Ali Jan Khan has said that the department has already provided medicines and vaccine of H1N1 to all the district and tehsil headquarters (DHQ and THQ) hospitals across the province.

He said that the Flu Filtration Clinics have also been established in these hospitals. He said that a technical committee which constituted on the instruction of Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif was monitoring disease surveillance report of H1NI on daily basis.

He directed officials to not only ensure timely case response of the patients but also ensure vaccination of their contacts, high risk group, doctors and staff of the hospitals. He directed officials to pay special attention on awareness campaign about H1N1 to sensitize the masses regarding precautionary measures.

Secretary Jan stated this while presiding over the fifth Deputy District Health Officers Conference here in which officers from all the districts participated. IRMNCH Project Director Dr Mukhtar Shah, EPI Director Dr Munir Ahmed, CDC Director Dr Muhammad Younis, project directors and other Health officers were present on the occasion.

Addressing the conference, Secretary Jan said that revamping of tehsil and district hospitals was on fast track and the department has provided four thousand new beds to these hospitals as well as latest medical equipment and other facilities. In the first phase, 20 CT scan machines will be provided in which installation of 10 machines are completed and five CT scan machines in five districts are operationalized.

He said that he along with Health Minister Imran Nazir was visiting various districts to monitor the revamping process of the hospitals. He said that the department has increased the powers of the health managers. He directed the district health officers to improve the routine coverage of EPI.
