LAHORE: Following the altercations of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders former interior minister Ch Nisar Ali Khan and ex-information minister Pervaiz Rasheed through media, Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif while calling Nisar a “close confidante” asked party chief Nawaz Sharif to intervene in the matter.
Speaking to a local journalist, Shehbaz said that he would request Nawaz Sharif to decide the matter by inviting both leaders at the same time.
He said Pervaiz Rashid should have avoided talking about certain things through media, adding Nisar is a senior party leader and he is considered as a close confidante of Nawaz Sharif.
Replying to a question of the reporter, the chief minister said that disagreements between party office-bearers are not an unusual thing for any democratic political party.
He said that all the leaders, office-bearers and workers of the PML-N are united under the leadership of Nawaz Sharif for the implementation of party manifesto and public welfare agenda.
The rift between Nisar and Rasheed seems to be widening over the period of time, as two had become involved in various public arguments.
Rasheed, who blames Nisar for poor handling of the issue of Dawn Leaks, had said that the former interior minister passed “misleading statements about the party during testing times”. He called upon the PML-N to make a decision unanimously regarding Nisar.
However, Ch Nisar retorted that it doesn’t seem it fit to respond to a man [Rasheed] who is “barely in the party”. He also said if the report of the Dawn Leaks were to be made public, the ‘real face’ of Rasheed will be exposed in front of everyone. Nisar had also held Rasheed’s ‘doings’ responsible for his ouster.
