A Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) activist and a policeman among four citizens were gunned down in separate incidents across the city on Thursday.
Iqbal Market police said that unidentified men in Orangi 11½ opened fire on MQM activist Rafaqat Hussain who was on his way back home.
Police said that Hussain died on the spot and his body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH). The victim was a worker of MQM’s unit No 120, the police added.
Separately, a police constable and a bandit were killed in a brief encounter in Sohrab Goth police precincts.
The Gadap Town police said that a police party was pursuing four bandits who were attempting to escape after looting citizens in Ayub Goth.
Police said that they warned the bandits to stop, but the robbers opened fire on the law enforcers and then the police retaliated as a brief encounter ensued.
Sohrab Goth police constable Manzoor Solangi and a bandit were killed during the encounter, and their bodies were shifted to ASH, the police added.
In another incident, a 40-year-old man was killed by an unidentified man near Defence Morr. The Gizri police said that the victim was identified as Tariq Majeed.
Police said that Majeed was a government employee who was working in Larkana’s Education Department.
The victim was killed over personal enmity and a case has been registered against Muhammad Ameer Khan Mirani on the complaint of the victim’s brother, the police added.
