TTP claims responsibility for attack on Rao Anwar

KARACHI: Banned Tehreek Taliban Pakistan (TTP) on Wednesday claimed the responsibility of the suspected suicide attack on SSP Malir Rao Anwar Yesterday and issued the image of an attacker.

On the other hand, Karachi police on Wednesday registered a first information report (FIR) against suspects responsible for a suicide attack on Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Malir Rao Anwar.

The accused were charged with murder, encounter, use of explosives and terrorism in the cases registered against them.

According to police officers, two accomplices of the attacker were killed in retaliation while two 9mm pistols were also recovered from their possession.

A day earlier, Anwar’s convoy had been ambushed by assailants as he was heading towards his home in Malir Cantt.

A suicide bomber blew himself up near the SSP’s convoy in an attempt to take his life, but Anwar escaped unhurt while two other attackers were killed in retaliatory fire by policemen.
