SRINAGAR: Indian troops martyred five Kashmiris in the Baramulla district of Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK) on Monday, according to the Kashmir Media Service.
According to reports, the Kashmiris were martyred by the India army along with the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) in a joint operation launched at Dulanja in Uri area of the district.
The Indian media reported that the martyred youth belonged to Jaish-e-Mohammad and were attempting to cross the Line of Control into IOK.
In IOK, local security forces in their unabated acts of state terrorism martyred 291 innocent Kashmiris including six women and 18 young boys during 2017, according to a report.
In December alone, Indian forces martyred 14 Kashmiris including two women. The killings rendered two children orphaned.
As many as 181 people were injured due to use of brute force, bullets, pellets and teargas shells by the Indian troops and police personnel against peaceful protesters while 197 civilians including Hurriyet leaders and activists were arrested in last month of 2017.
Indian forces’ personnel also destroyed and damaged 125 residential houses and disgraced 10 during the period.
