KARACHI: Mohammad Ali Jinnah University (MAJU) of Karachi has been accredited with Association of Chartered Certified Accounting (ACCA) and Chartered Institute of Management and Accounting. (CIMA) As a result of this accreditation, the students who will take admissions in four years degree program of BS- Accounting & Finance will be eligible to get exemption in eight papers of ACCA and in six papers of CIMA.
This was announced by MAJU Associate Dean, Dr Shujaat Mubarak, in an online live program on Facebook which was arranged by the Admission Department of the University. Finance Department senior faculty members including Abdul Ghaffar, Mutaher Hussain, Abdul Wahab and Hassan Aftab were also present on this occasion. They also answered various questions asked by the students about the admission in BS- Accounting & Finance degree program.
Dr Shujaat Mubarak told the students that they had launched BS- Accounting & Finance degree program to provide qualified accountants and financial officials to meet the requirement of the job market. He said that it had become imperative for accountants and financial officers to become a member of any professional body.
Mubarak said that the students, after completing their degree in BS-Accounting & Finance, should be required to clear few papers of ACCA & CIMA if they want to become Chartered Accountant or Chief Financial Officer in any reputable organization. He explained that the exemption of 14 papers of ACCA and CIMA during studying in BS-Accounting & Finance would provide them a great relief to clear remaining papers of ACCA and CIMA which in turn could provide them with a good opportunity to start a good career.
MAJU President Professor Dr Zubair Shaikh appreciated the efforts of the head of Finance Department, Asif Naji, on MAJU’s accreditation with ACCA and CIMA. He further hoped that he would also be able to get accreditation of Institute of Certified Chartered Accountants (ICCA) very soon.
