ISLAMABAD: The Deputy Chairman of Cabinet of Ministers/Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov will reach Islamabad on 15 January 2018 on a two-day visit, on the invitation of Foreign Minister, Khawaja Muhammad Asif.
The Turkmen FM is being accompanied by a high-level delegation. The ministers will lead their respective sides to the inaugural session of Pakistan-Turkmenistan Bilateral Political Consultations (BPC).
Strengthening of cooperation with neighbouring countries in the Asian region, including Pakistan, is one of the key vectors of neutral Turkmenistan’s foreign policy, said the country’s President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov at a government meeting.
The Turkmen state news agency reported that Berdimuhamedov also spoke about the high level of interstate relations, dynamically developing on a multilateral basis and through authoritative international and regional organizations.
It is expected that special attention will be paid to the implementation of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project, as well as other important joint projects, particularly, in the power and communications, transport and communications sectors.
Pakistan and Turkmenistan traditionally enjoy close, cordial relations marked by trust and understanding. Bilateral collaboration in different sectors has been growing steadily.
The visit of the Turkmen Foreign Minister will reinforce Pakistan’s endeavours to deepen its engagement with Turkmenistan and build a strong economic partnership with the country.
