Pakistan attaches great importance to its ties with Iraq: President

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan President Mamnoon Hussain on Friday said Iraq was an important country of the Islamic world and Pakistan attaches great importance to its relations with Iraq.

The president said this while talking to the Iraq Ambassador-designate Sajid Bilal who called on him at the Aiwan-e-Sadr (President’s Office). Many other senior officials were also present on the occasion.

The president stated that Pakistan had very cordial relations with Iraq that were further strengthened by the historical and religious links. Therefore, it was necessary to increase cooperation in different sectors including education, culture and trade.

He also expressed his desire that efforts should be made for the enhancement of mutual cooperation. He underlined that there were vast opportunities for trade between Pakistan and Iraq and continuous, however, efforts were required for the optimal utilization of their true potential.

The president also stressed that priority should be given to the exchange of delegations of traders and industrialists in this regard.
