NAB arrests another ‘Double Shah’ like conman

LAHORE: The National Accountability Burea (NAB) arrested a “Double Shah” like conman for allegedly cheating people with Rs 6.5 million on the pretext of doubling their investments.

According to NAB reports, Abbas along with his wife lured the public by promising to double their investments in 15 to 30 days. In the process, they collected almost Rs 6.539m.

The corruption reference against the suspect had been filed in 2015 by the NAB in the accountability court.

Abbas is from the same belt as Syed Sibtul Hasan Gilani, of Sambrial, who was earlier arrested in 2007 for stealing billions from people on the promise of doubling their money. He was sentenced to 14 years in prison and was released in 2014 following a plea bargain.

NAB has obtained the physical remand of Abbas from an accountability court till January 22.
