Several mega development projects approved for GB: report

GILGIT: The Gilgit-Baltistan Working Development Party (GBWDP) has approved several projects worth Rs2.99 billion for the Gilgit Baltistan (GB) region.

The approval came at a GBWDP meeting chaired by GB Chief Secretary Kazim Niaz, according to Radio Pakistan.

The body approved a project worth Rs100 million to tackle natural calamities in the region, to be completed by the GB home department.

Several other projects related to various sectors, including education, social welfare, power and health were also approved in the meeting.

Two schemes regarding culture and tourism sectors are to be completed at the total approximate cost of Rs240 million. Schemes worth Rs100 million for the social welfare sector and the education sector each were also approved by the committee.

Key projects were approved for the departments of home, social welfare, education and energy with a special focus on improving socio-economic conditions of masses.

Five mega projects worth Rs2 billion will be forwarded to the higher forum for approval.
