LAHORE: Secretary Sports Punjab, Muhammad Aamir Jan here on Wednesday congratulated the Pakistan Blind Cricket (PBC) team on its remarkable performance in the first two matches of 5th Blind World Cup.
Pakistan beat Bangladesh at Gaddafi Stadium on January 8 and Nepal at Jinnah Stadium Gujranwala on January 9 by an identical margin of 9 wickets.
Praising the overwhelming performance of the team, Aamir said Pakistan team outplayed their opponents in all departments of the game in both the matches. “Our players demonstrated wonderful performance with collective efforts to outclass in both the games”.
He said the outstanding performance of PBC team reflects the true picture of its great potential. He also lauded the superb performance of Pakistan batsman Badar Munir, who struck impressive match-winning back to back centuries in both the encounters.
Secretary Sports expressed the hope that the team will maintain its winning sequence in the remaining matches of Blind World Cup in UAE.
It may be noted here that the PBC team demonstrated excellent performances and played the final in all previous Blind World Cup tournaments. They won two titles – vs South Africa at Chennai in 2002 and vs India at Islamabad in 2006. Pakistan also finished runner-up twice vs South Africa in New Delhi in 1998 and vs India in Cape Town, South Africa in 2014.
