Int’l community should acknowledge Pakistan’s role in war on terror: KP governor

PESHAWAR: Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Iqbal Zafar Jhagra said on Tuesday that the people of Pakistan have given immense sacrifices in the fight against militancy, and the international community should acknowledge the role of Pakistan in this respect. He said this in his meeting with a delegation of French journalists.

“Peace has been restored in the country because of operation Zarb-e-Azb, and the environment is quite feasible for foreign investment in Pakistan,” he said.

The delegation comprised French journal Le Chief Editor  Mr Jacques Follorou and other journalists including Mr Monde, Mr Emmanuel, Mr Le Figaro, MS Kararen Lajon, du Dimanche and Mr Joris Fioriti. Agency France Press Correspondent Mr Michel Scott was also a part of the delegation.  The matters of mutual interest were discussed between the French delegation and the governor

Welcoming the members of the delegation, the governor said that Pakistan and France have strong friendly relations. While referring to the implementation of Federally Administered Tribal Area (FATA) reforms, the governor stated that our government has already taken the initiative to start the implementation of the plan.

This, he added, is a continuous process wherein legal reforms are being given due priority to bring a constructive change in the affairs of FATA in consultation with all the stakeholder. He further said that the merger of FATA with KP is in the best interest of the people of FATA, which will bring the tribal areas at par with other developed regions of the country.
